Towing Capacity of the 2019 Kia Sorento

The 2019 Kia Sorento comes with two engine options, depending on your needs in Springfield: a 2.4L four-cylinder or a 3.3L V6. They have towing capacities of:

  • 2.4L DOHC 16-valve I4 engine: 2,000 pounds
  • 3.3L DOHC 24-valve V6 engine: 3,500 pounds
  • 3.3L DOHC 24-valve V6 engine: 5,000 pounds with AWD

2019 Kia Sorento Engine Options

The standard 2.4L DOHC 16-valve I4 engine delivers 185 hp and 178 lb-ft of torque. With an EPA-estimated fuel efficiency of 22 mpg/city and 29 mpg/highway, it’s clear that you don’t have to own a gas guzzler to be able to tow.

The base engine is paired with an electronically controlled six-speed automatic transmission and standard front-wheel drive. Upgrade from the baseline L trim to the LX or the EX, and you’ll have the option to equip Dynamax all-wheel drive.

The 3.3L DOHC 24-valve V6 engine delivers 290 hp and 252 lb-ft of torque. It gets an EPA-estimated fuel efficiency of 19 mpg/city and 26 mpg/highway with front-wheel drive and 19 mpg/city and 24 mpg/highway with all-wheel drive.

The V6 is paired with an electronically controlled eight-speed automatic transmission and standard front-wheel drive or optional Dynamax AWD.
