2016 Kia Sorento vs. 2016 Nissan Rogue
For a vehicle that lives up to its size and class, go with the 2016 Kia Sorento! It’s a spacious automobile that redefines the durability, coziness, and ingenuity that comes with being an SUV. Although one of its top competitors – the 2016 Nissan Rogue – may seem comparable, there are several main reasons why it isn’t anywhere close to the standout details that Kia provides.
The 2016 Kia Sorento‘s brawny appearance echoes the amazing GDI CVVT force with which this car delivers on various road conditions. The L and LX have a 185-hp 2.4L sixteen-valve engine with 178 lb. ft. torque, and the EX and Limited have a 240-hp 2.0L turbocharged engine with 260 lb. ft. torque. There’s also a 290-hp 3.3L V6 engine with 252 lb. ft. torque for the eponymous LX, EX, and Limited versions, plus the SX. These terrific motors are strengthened by FWD or optional AWD six-speed automatic transmission with Sportmatic™ Sports Shifter.
The 2016 Nissan Rogue‘s S, SV, and SL trims are powered by a 170-hp 2.5L engine with 175 lb. ft. torque, and either FWD or AWD Xtronic CVT®. It’s not as strong as the Sorento, which is particularly disappointing for an SUV.
Distinguished details emphasize the 2016 Kia Sorento’s comfort and appeal over the 2016 Rogue:
- 2016 Kia Sorento: The 2016 Kia Sorento presents a striking impression, with a distinctive honeycomb grille accented by projector beam headlights. It commands presence with a 187.4” length, 74.4” width, and 109.4” wheelbase, with select trims having a panoramic sunroof and a power liftgate with an adjustable height. Leg room is perfect, at 44.1” front, 39.4” second row, and 31.7” third row for trims that have the extra seating, and power-adjustable driver settings are up to fourteen positions. Whether packed with luggage, sports’ gear, shopping purchases, or some combination, the maximum 73-73.5 cu. ft. cargo space (dependent upon five or seven-seater) gives everyone plenty of space to fill up with what they need or want.
- 2016 Nissan Rogue: The 2016 Nissan Rogues isn’t as distinguished, with a standard looking front fascia and 182.3” length, 72.4” width, and 106.5” wheelbase. There’s less ability to stretch knees and toes, with 43” front, 37.9” second row, and 31.4” third row leg room. Driver seating is only at six-positions, and a maximum cargo space of 70 cu. ft. doesn’t allow for as much storage.
Superb Safety and Technology
An extensive array of available safety features for the 2016 Sorento include a surround view monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, and advanced smart cruise control. UVO eServices, and a ten-speaker Infinity® Surround Sound System with Clari-Fi™, boost phone syncing and musical enjoyment. Driver-assistance is not as full in the 2016 Rogue, and the stereo and app-connecting upgrades are not as valuable.
