Kia Warranty for Hybrid, PHEV and EV Models
Kia continues to release highly advanced and efficient alternative fuel vehicles, including hybrid, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) and full electric vehicles (EV). If you're shopping the Kia lineup and considering a new hybrid or EV, you're probably wondering what warranties apply.
The great news is that the automaker backs every new Kia hybrid, plug-in hybrid and EV model with a 10-year or 100,000-mile powertrain warranty. So, in other words, whether you select a Kia gasoline, hybrid, PHEV or EV model, you're covered by Kia's industry-leading powertrain warranty!
These alternative fuel vehicles carry a 10-year or 100,000-mile powertrain warranty covering advanced drivetrain systems not found on conventional gas-engined vehicles. In hybrid and PHEV models, the standard gasoline powertrain components are covered, too.
The Kia hybrid powertrain warranty covers:
- Hybrid battery pack assembly
- Hybrid starter and generator
- Hybrid power control unit
- Electric traction motor
- On board charger and all internal parts
For Kia electric vehicles, the following powertrain parts are covered:
- Electric motor
- Gear Drive Unit
- EV battery pack
- Electric Power Control Unit (EPCU)
- On board charger (OBC)
Kia Roadside Assistance
A free phone call doesn't help much if nobody will come to help you. Kia offers a network of over 17,000 roadside assistance providers who will come to your aid and assist with the usual minor mishaps of flat tires (provided you have a spare that isn't flat), running out of gas, and dead batteries, and they'll do it free of charge.
If there is a problem that is covered by your warranty that can't be fixed on the spot, your vehicle will be towed to the nearest Kia dealer or Alternate Service Location (ASL) at no cost (whichever is closer) at no cost.
If a breakdown occurs after-hours, on the weekend, or a holiday, your vehicle will still be towed and stored by a Kia-approved vendor then moved to the nearest dealer or ASL on the next available business morning.
Kia Warranty for Second Owners
Many of our customers want to know if they can give the Kia warranty to a second owner. The answer is yes. We're pleased to say, it's that simple.
Here is how it works. The 10-year/100,000-mile limited powertrain warranty switches to a 5-year/60,000-mile limited powertrain warranty when the vehicle is sold, with the remainder transferring to the new owner.
The following warranties also transfer with their remaining time:
- 5-year/60,000-mile limited basic warranty.
- 5-year/100,000-mile limited anti-perforation warranty.
- 5-year/60,000-mile roadside assistance plan.
When you want peace of mind and a warranty that outperforms the competition, you want a Kia. The Kia Second Owner Warranty also increases your vehicle's resale value because the warranty transfers, which could make it easier to sell or trade in your new Forte sedan when the time comes.
